5 WAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

As well as joining us at F.E.A.T, there are plenty of other ways to help the war against Animal Testing.

Here are some insights for you:

Raw 3

1. Arm Yourself with Knowledge

Education is the key to change! Understand the failures of animal testing and the modern alternatives available. This knowledge will empower you to advocate for change wherever you go!

2. SIGN OR START A PETITION

A good petition, well worded can see these issues being brought up in University and Council meetings. A petition of 100,000 signatures can see it brought up in Parliament. Does your company use animal tested products? A staff petition could change this practice within your place of work. Think about the words that you use to create your petition so as not to misrepresent what you are wanting to say.

Here are two petitions you can sign that we have been asked to share:

3. MAKE CONTACT WITH THOSE IN POWER

Another easy way for you to have your say and help to create change is to send an email to your MP demanding such change. This government has promised to look into the state of animal testing in the UK. Let's make sure they take action. As well as your MP you might want to email the Medical Research Council who are the people responsible for handing out the licences, or other organisations responsible for grant funding, e.g. The Wellcome Trust. You can also email your local university, and council to demand that they end animal testing and change to better methods.

Here are some sample emails that you can use. Adding your own wording to these will help them to get through to the people you are trying to reach and have a bigger impact on them.

4. BOYCOTT CHARITIES

Did you know that several of the big high street charities like Cancer Research UK, The British Heart Foundation, and Alzheimer Research UK, to name but a few, are all invested in animal experiments when far superior methods exist?

Let them know that this is unacceptable by refusing to use their shops, encouraging others to do the same, and emailing their complaints department - demanding they change.

There is a website with an up to date list of those charities to avoid and contact details for their complaints department.

We have included a sample email for you to send, but adding your own wording to these will help them to get through to the people you are trying to reach and have a bigger impact.

5. LOOK FOR THE LOGO

Many products these days do not test on animals and display this proudly on their packaging. We recommend you look for the bunny logo to avoid animal tested products and the official Vegan Society logo to avoid both animal testing and animal ingredients too.

AND THERE IS SO MUCH MORE...

As you can imagine there is always more you can do!

Not least of which is joining us on social media, or one of the many other organisations out to help the cause!

Keep up to date on the issues by joining an organisation, through social media or subscribing to a mailing list.

WANT TO DO EVEN MORE?

Order some leaflets or create your own and spend a little time popping them through people's doors.

Maybe put one up on your community notice board, in your local shop or supermarket?

Make a placard or banner and take it into town, set it against the wall somewhere and hand out some flyers to passers by.

Invite some friends to come with you.

Join a local animal rights group. These are easily found online and on social media.

Ask if you can join them in campaigning on the issue and maybe help to organise events with them.

Find out where your nearest laboratory is that tests on animals and arrange to meet others for a peaceful public demonstration there.

You can do the same with your local university and charity shops as well.

Get inspired, use your imagination, collaborate with friends and make your voices heard!

Join the thousands and thousands that are already demanding change.

Let's do this together because together we CAN change the world!
