BOYCOTT CHARITIES

Here is a website with an up to date list of those charities to avoid and contact details for their
complaints department and a sample email for you to send.

Adding your own wording to these will help them to get through to the people you are trying to
reach and have a bigger impact on them.

Cancer Research UK,

I am writing to express my deep concern that Cancer Research UK continues to fund and conduct
experiments on non-human animals, despite the availability of advanced, human-relevant research
methods. The exploitation and use of animals in laboratories is both immoral and scientifically
flawed, and it is time for Cancer Research UK to take a stand for ethical and effective research.
The differences between species mean that results from animal experiments frequently fail to
translate to humans. Cancer treatments that appear promising in animals often do not work in
people, resulting in wasted time, resources, and lives. This outdated model of research is not only
cruel but also a barrier to real medical progress.
Modern, cutting-edge alternatives—such as human cell cultures, organ-on-a-chip technology,

AIdriven drug discovery, and patient-derived models—offer more reliable, ethical, and scientifically
valid pathways to understanding and treating cancer. As one of the most influential medical research
charities in the UK, Cancer Research UK has the power and responsibility to lead the way in
phasing out animal experiments and prioritising human-relevant science.

I urge you to:

Commit to a clear strategy for ending animal research, with targets for replacing these outdated
methods with humane, human-focused alternatives.
Invest exclusively in non-animal research that will produce better outcomes for cancer patients and
eliminate the exploitation of animals.
Be fully transparent about the number of animals used in research funded by Cancer Research UK
and the real impact of these experiments.
The public increasingly opposes the use of animals in research, and donors deserve to know
whether their contributions are funding experiments that harm animals rather than advancing human
medicine. By embracing a truly ethical and scientifically progressive approach, Cancer Research
UK can help lead the transition towards research that is not only kinder but also more effective.
I would appreciate a response outlining your organisation’s plans to move away from animal
experiments and prioritise human-relevant, cruelty-free research.

Yours sincerely,

[Your Name]
